Job Purpose
Professional with proven experience working with complex political or regulatory issues, business or agencies. Goal-oriented, team player and with excellent project management skills. This role reports directly to the Head of Public Affairs. It is responsible for contributing to the definition and execution of the Public Affairs strategy, supporting the company’s positioning across key political and regulatory environments at both national (Spain) and European level. The role focuses on monitoring, analyzing and influencing legislative and regulatory developments, while supporting institutional engagement with policymakers, industry stakeholders and relevant associations.
Main Responsibilities - Tasks
- Contribute to development and execution of public affairs strategy in alignment with our corporate purpose and business priorities.
- Provide strategic counsel to the senior leadership on public affairs risk and opportunities.
- Identify, prioritize and manage key policy issues, developing action plans to support business objectives.
- Suport the identification and execution of public-private partnership opportunities aligned with company objectives.
- Engage with regulatory bodies, industry associations and other stakeholders to advocate for the company’s interests. In this sense, build and maintain strong relationships with policymakers, regulatory bodies, associations or think tanks.
- Support institutional engagement in Spain and Brussels, contributing to the management of relationships with policymakers, regulators, aviation stakeholders and industry associations.
- Coordinate and align regulatory positioning with IAG at European level, contributing to joint advocacy messaging.
- Monitor, analyze and asses political, legislative and regulatory developments at Spanish and EU Level. In this sense, pprovide strategic insights and recommendations on potential business impact.
- Prepare high-quality briefing materials, key messages and policy documentation for senior leadership ahead of institutional engagements.
- Support the development of consistent corporate narratives in relation to regulatory and public policy topics.
- Manage stakeholder databases, engagement plans, and coordination of institutional meetings and events.
- Collaborate closely with internal teams (example: Legal, communications, sustainability, network, operations…) to ensure aligned positioning and messaging.
- Support the management of crisis and incidents related to Public Affairs, ensuring coordination with the Communications team.
- Contribute to the development of response materials and stakeholder engagement strategies.
Main Relationships
Internal relations:
- Corporate Communications Departament: For ensuring alignment on institutional
messaging and managing Vueling’s image in public-facing interactions.
- Marketing Department: To coordinate on tourism-related public-private partnerships and
promotional initiatives that require alignment with external stakeholders.
- Network Departament: For assessing the impact of regulatory changes on route decisions
and planning, especially where public support may be involved.
- Finance Department: For budget tracking related to association memberships and ensuring
that expenditure aligns with the Public Affairs Department’s goals.
- Legal Department: For coordinating responses to legislative changes and ensuring
compliance with evolving regulatory frameworks.
External relations:
- External Public Institutions (national, regional, and international): For fostering
relationships with government bodies and staying informed on regulatory changes that could
affect Vueling’s operations.
- Industry Associations and Trade Organisations: For participation in policy discussions,
accessing industry insights, and aligning Vueling’s advocacy efforts with sector trends
Education
Bachelor’s degree in law, international relation or politics. Master’s degree highly recommended
