Job Purpose
Design, manage, and continuously improve training strategies, materials, and delivery methods for Ground Operations personnel and handling partners, in accordance with regulatory frameworks, operational procedures, and company standards, in order to ensure full compliance, role-specific capability development, risk mitigation, and the effective implementation of procedural changes across the network.
Main Accountabilities
- Ensure that employees are correctly trained for their assigned responsibilities and no mandatory training becomes overdue, thereby maintaining regulatory compliance and operational integrity.
- Deliver effective, traceable, and relevant training materials that meet internal standards and external audit expectations.
- Centralise training management, ensure accessibility and compliance, and provide a robust system of record for regulatory and internal control.
- Guarantee that all employees hold valid qualifications aligned with their roles, thereby reducing operational risk and ensuring audit-readiness.
- Ensure the safe and efficient implementation of new procedures by updating training in a timely and traceable manner.
- Maintain training relevance, enhance learner engagement, and embed a continuous improvement culture within the training function.
- Ensure that Vueling’s ground training remains aligned with regulatory developments, industry benchmarks, and innovation opportunities.
- Coordinate training needs and content validation, ensuring consistent knowledge transfer and compliance across all actors involved in operational delivery.
- Maintain relevance, drive quality, and ensure training is both engaging and operationally effective.
- Modernise the training experience and ensure scalability, efficiency, and ease of traceability.
- Support internal and external audits and meet documentation standards required by regulators and corporate compliance.
- Contribute to root cause analysis and preventive measures in safety-related or compliance cases.
Main Responsibilities - Tasks
- Define, structure, and implement role-specific training programmes for Ground Operations personnel in alignment with regulatory requirements, internal procedures, and operational needs.
- Create, update, and validate training content for internal and external audiences, ensuring alignment with Vueling’s procedures, systems, and aviation safety protocols.
- Manage the company’s corporate learning platform for Ground Operations, overseeing course configuration, publication, user access, and training traceability.
- Monitor training completion and certification expiry for Ground Operations roles, triggering recertifications when needed and preventing overdue training.
- Oversee and adapt training content in response to risk analysis, procedural updates, and organisational change, coordinating closely with the Management of Change function.
- Collect feedback from training participants, operations staff, and auditors, and use it to improve training materials, delivery methods, and platform usability.
- Stay up to date with aviation regulations, ground handling best practices, and learning technology trends (including e-learning and AI-based automation).
- Act as the main liaison for Ground Ops training with internal departments (Training, Compliance, Safety, HR, MoC, IT) and external stakeholders (handling agents, regulators).
- Analyse feedback from users, operations, and audits to continuously enhance training strategy and content.
- Explore and propose new formats, tools, or methodologies (including e-learning, SCORM, microlearning, and AI-based automation).
- Act as documentation owner for all Ground Ops training-related materials and ensure they are correctly recorded and auditable.
- Support incident or non-conformity resolution by providing training records and identifying gaps or needs in training coverage.
Main Relationships
- Ground Operations: Direct content owner; determines operational needs and defines role-specific training requirements.
- Corporate Training Department: Owner of documentation and compliance for company-wide training manuals; responsible for course approval and publication.
Safety & Compliance: Validates content for safety-critical procedures; may require training as a corrective measure after audit findings. - Management of Change (MoC): Flags changes requiring training; coordinates timing and procedural integration of new standards.
- Human Resources (HR): Supports internal training tracking, onboarding, and potentially role mapping.
- IT / Platform Governance: Ensures the centralised LMS functions properly and supports content integration and certification tracking.
- Handling Providers: Receives Vueling-specific procedural and systems training; ensures alignment with operational standards and system usage.
- Regulatory Authorities (e.g., AESA, EASA): Receives training documentation; defines training-related regulatory requirements.
- Airport Stations (Domestic/International): Require on-site or remote training for station-specific procedures or systems (e.g., check-in, boarding with GoNow).
- Systems Providers (e.g. GoNow): Source of technical training content for systems used by Vueling and its providers; may require close cooperation for deployment.
Education
- A university degree, preferably in Aeronautical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or other related technical disciplines.
Experience
- Ideally 2–3 years of experience in the aviation industry, preferably in roles related to Ground Operations, operational training, or airport handling.
- Prior experience managing or administering Learning Management Systems (LMS) is a plus.

- Ideally, solid understanding of airport-side and landside procedures, including check-in, boarding, ramp safety, and contingency operations.
